The Golf 5 Sportline
The Golf 5 was one of the models that were available with a wide range of different packages and equipment. There was also the "Sportline" variant, which brought a touch of exclusivity to the compact car and even a price advantage.
That was different in the Golf 5 Sportline
- The Golf 5 Sportline has electric windows, a manual gearbox (DSG automatic for an extra charge), electric exterior mirrors as well as ABS and ESP as standard. In addition, the vehicle has sports seats that promised better lateral support. The inlays in the interior are made of matt stainless steel.
- Further equipment features are the steering wheel, the gear knob and the handbrake, which are covered with leather and thus give an exclusive impression. Automatic air conditioning and a multifunction display are also included in the base price of this model. But you had to pay extra for a good sound, as the basic radio with CD did not meet everyone's expectations.
- On the outside, the Sportline differs from the basic model in the protective strips, door handles and mirror housings, which are painted in the corresponding vehicle color (black in the base). In addition, the GT look was emphasized by the modified radiator grille. The 16-inch alloy wheels in conjunction with a tighter sports suspension round off the sporty impression.

- Of course, the Golf 5 Sportline could also be ordered with additional equipment. Bigger ones rims, a sunroof, a DSG automatic or a large navigation system were on the surcharge list.
- The customer was also free to choose when it came to the motorization. For the diesel models, the 1.9 TDI (105 PS) and the 2.0 TDI (140 PS) were available. For the gasoline engines, the 1.4 FSI with 122 PS and 160 PS (later 170 PS) and the aging 2.0 FSI with 150 PS were available.
