Not only those who have planted flowers for a lot of money in their garden are annoyed when snails have gleefully fed on them. In general, snails are a nuisance when it comes to the garden area. But with copper you can easily beat snails.

Snails and their taste preferences

If Snails thinks, the famous and infamous immediately comes to mind salad in the head. Snails have a very diverse sense of taste.

  • The heads of lettuce, which are eaten with relish by snails, are already part of the cultural program in the garden area. Salad is indeed a real feast for a successful snail party.
  • If there is no salad for the snails, the small, slippery creatures are pretty frugal. As a matter of course they make a detour to Sunflower or other leaves that get in their way.
  • Even a house wall cannot deter the slippery pests. Of course, a small fence or wire mesh that you put around your precious flowers or vegetables is not enough. Snails always find their way.

Even if it seems almost hopeless, there is a very simple means with which you can fight the snails: copper wire.

Proceed against the snails with copper wire

  1. Copper wire can be purchased in any hardware store. When buying copper wire that you want to use against the snails, make sure that you choose a slightly thicker copper wire. Because if you have a very thin wire made of copper, the snails will still laugh at you.
  2. Once you have purchased your wire made of copper, go into the garden and pull the wire along the ground around your plants.
  3. Make sure that the wire lies nicely on the ground so that the snails cannot crawl under it.

The copper wire prevents the snails from crawling under the wire. You don't have to worry about the snails crawling over the wire, because snails abhor copper. If the snails came into contact with copper, the snails would oxidize.
