You cut your tree root

You are making a beautiful garden table from a tree root in your garden.

  1. Before you can start pruning your tree root, you should do everything around the tree root Remove the grass and create a level surface on which to lay concrete slabs later can.
  2. When you have prepared the environment, it is now your turn to root the tree. Cut a 5 cm thick sheet with your chainsaw. If you've never used a chainsaw before, get a professional to do the job for you.
  3. After you've cut off a 5 cm thick sheet, trim your tree root on the sides. Always cut pieces 3 cm thick and 5 cm wide. Do this until your tree root has shrunk 10 cm in diameter and looks like a polygon.
  4. Use the cut pieces to make five spacers 10 cm long and 2 cm x 2 cm wide. These pieces get 5 mm holes in the front sides, which go 5 mm deep into the wood. Now draw a circle at your tree root and drill five 5 mm holes evenly distributed on this circle, which also go 5 mm into the wood.
  5. Build your own planter - this is how it works with wood

If the acquisition costs for a plant trough seem too high to you, then ...

  6. You transfer these holes to the plate that you cut off first, so that the hole spacing is then the same in your tree root and in your plate.

This is how the root becomes a garden decoration

  1. Take your 10 cm spacers, spread some wood glue into the holes on the front sides and insert the wooden dowels. Take a couple of screw clamps and clamp the spacers in such a way that the wooden dowels are pressed in correctly.
  2. When the wood glue is dry, spread some wood glue into the holes in your tree root, then insert the spacers with the dowels into the tree root.
  3. Next, you also spread wood glue into the holes of your 5 cm thick board that you cut first and put on the dowels of the intermediate pieces. To ensure that everything is pressed down properly while the glue dries, place weights on the 5 cm tabletop.
  4. When everything is dry, take your concrete slabs and lay them around your tree roots so that you have a nice patio with a table. After you've properly tamped the plates, you can have your first glass Wine enjoy at your new tree root table.

Then you can make the tree root table more weather-resistant with clear varnish.
