Organize a winter festival in the garden

Organizing a spontaneous party or winter festival in the garden in winter requires a little more planning than in summer.

Use the garden for fun in winter

While there is a lot of work in the garden from spring to late autumn, in winter it can be used (almost) completely without work, i.e. only for fun. One Garden party is quickly organized.

  • If your garden shed can be heated - e.g. B. with a wood-burning stove - you should heat it up on the morning of the planned party. With wood or briquettes you provide warmth that will be pleasant for frozen guests and you.
  • Since there is a risk of water pipes freezing in winter, the water must be turned off in gardens (which are not directly next to the house). For sufficient drinking water, water for washing hands, washing dishes, etc. you can easily carry 5 - 10 ltr. Take care of water cans.
  • An open fire is part of a nice winter festival in the garden. You are sure to have a fireplace on a meadow or a cut metal barrel from your summer parties. If you haven't already done so, get a sufficient amount of dry material for this firewood.
  • Music is also part of a winter festival in the garden. You can either bring your own CD player and CD's or ask your guests to do so.

Prepare a hearty meal at the Winterfest

  • If your guests are not vegetarians, a sheet-fed meal is a good idea, especially in winter. For this purpose, pork pickled in brine is cut into slices and wrapped in aluminum foil with lots of onion rings.
  • Let your wood fire burn down a little and "bury" the aluminum packets in the embers. After 10-15 minutes, take out a packet with a scoop and check the cooking point. Baked potatoes or farmhouse bread go well with this hearty and warming winter meal.
  • Drinks are also a must at a winter festival in the garden. Beer goes very well with sheet meat. In addition, there are also mulled wine and hot apple cider for adults. Children present "warm themselves" with non-alcoholic beverages. These are by no means harmful for adults either.

Even without snow, the winter festival creates a romantic atmosphere

Unfortunately, there is no snow guarantee in most regions in Germany. If it's not pouring rain in your garden during the winter festival, you can certainly enjoy it with a lot of romance even without snow.

  • If you have organized the winter festival in your garden very spontaneously, you can create a beautiful candlelit atmosphere with the simplest of means and without much planning. Old mason jars, mustard jars, etc. are suitable as candle glasses. The candles are protected from the wind by the glasses and do not go out.
  • Garden paths you can illuminate with small flower pots made of clay - in which you put tea lights.
  • Create a good atmosphere with music that invites you to "winter open-air dance".

Children will remember a successful winter festival in your garden for a long time if they are allowed to "play with fire" with your permission (and under observation). Just set up a small fireplace that children can use with chopped wood.
