What you need:

  • Flagpole made of aluminum
  • Plastic sleeve (from 60 cm)
  • Concrete (preferably mixed yourself)

Flags come into their own when they can blow in the wind on a flagpole. In order for the flagpole to stand securely and permanently, however, a few points must be observed.

Making the flagpole foundation

  1. First of all, you need to dig a small pit for the foundation. First prick the race at this point and set it aside. The pit should be around 60 to 80 cm deep and around 50 to 60 cm long or be wide.
  2. Then place the flagpole sleeve in the center of the pit and then pour the fresh concrete into the pit. A helper should hold the sleeve while it is being filled.
  3. When you have filled the concrete about 5 to 10 cm below ground level, compact the concrete with a rod-like object by poking around in it.
  4. Then check again that the sleeve is absolutely perpendicular. Any misalignment in the fresh concrete can easily be corrected. Let the concrete harden overnight.

  6. The next day, cover the hardened foundation with humus or cover the lawn that was cut off at the beginning. Make sure that no soil falls into the sleeve.

Setting up the aluminum mast

  1. You can usually erect an aluminum flagpole without a crane because it is light. The best thing to do is to get one or two helpers to help you set it up.
  2. Place the aluminum mast with the lower end facing the sleeve. Then slowly set up the aluminum mast from the top and at the same time insert it into the sleeve.
  3. After erecting, check whether the aluminum mast is fully inserted into the sleeve.
  4. If the gap between the sleeve and the aluminum mast is too large and the mast sways particularly as a result, simply use small wooden wedges to fix the aluminum mast.

When you have successfully erected the flagpole, you can fly your flag immediately. Have lots of fun with it!
