- To remedy the malfunction, it is almost always necessary to lay the 4-stroke lawnmower on its side. There is a widespread source of error: the air filter will fill up with oil if the mower is turned on the wrong side.
- Take a close look at your instruction manual in relation to this question. If this point is not mentioned and you already had starting problems after flipping it, proceed as follows: Close the fuel tap and do not tilt to the side where the carburetor is located.

- Also clean the discharge chute, where especially wet grass tends to stick and ultimately forms a hard shell. While cleaning, watch for liquids leaking anywhere.
- Finally, at the end of the season, there is a thorough wash with a high-pressure cleaner. Empty the carburetor with the fuel tap closed and protect the knife from rust.
