Everyone is wondering how it would be possible to carry out this work themselves as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible. With a spiral for pipe cleaning, you can face the problem at eye level.

Carry out a pipe cleaning with the spiral - the preparations

• You can get a spiral for pipe cleaning from your hardware store. There are different versions here, as the pipes and their course are also different.
• If you have the accessories you need, make sure you have them ready.
• Position the bucket under the siphon to catch any dirty water that may escape.

The work steps for using the spiral

1. If it is the pipe on a sink, the first thing to do is remove the siphon. You can do this with a screwdriver and water pump pliers.

2. Now take the spiral and carefully insert it into the pipe in the wall.
3. Push it in until you feel resistance. This is where the blockage is likely to be.
4. Turn the crank on the spiral until you get through this resistance. If this is not deep in the wall, you can carefully pull the plug out of the wall.
5. However, it can of course also be the case that the plug is loosened by the rotary movement to such an extent that it dissolves somewhat and falls further into the pipe.
6. In this case, pull the spiral out of the wall, mount the siphon and close it.
7. Then pour hot water into the sink and open the siphon. Ideally, this is how you flush the blockage out of the drain and the pipe cleaning is done. However, you can repeat this process again if necessary.
