Protect the vehicle from insufficient oil

There are many things and processes on the car or motorcycle which, if they function incorrectly or if worn, affect the safety and reliability of your car or motorcycle can. Here, however, you have to decide whether it is faults that could have been identified and avoided, or whether there are signs of wear and tear or material fatigue that only become recognizable when they lose their functionality will. One of these disorders that can be avoided is driving with too little oil. In order to recognize in good time that you are driving with too little oil, you need to take the initiative if you want to be sure.

  1. Modern vehicles often have an oil level indicator built into the fittings in the form of warning lights. While these light up red on older models as soon as there is something wrong with the oil in the engine, younger vehicles have a multi-level display. This display can light up green (everything ok), orange (should be checked here) or red (stop driving immediately). Such warning lights, which you always have together with the other fittings such as speedometer or tachometer Keeping an eye on them is the first way to recognize that you are traveling with too little oil.
  2. However, you should never rely on the warning lights just mentioned to identify signs of oil problems. Of course, the oil in the engine has a lubricating function. This lubrication function also prevents the machine from getting too hot, so the oil is also intended for cooling. This does not happen actively through the cold, but the reduced frictional energy generates less heat and thus protects the engine from overheating. Air and water cooling are of course the most important cooling elements. If your display of the operating temperature reaches a critical point, in addition to these elements, it may also be due to driving with too little oil, as mentioned.
  3. The third and at the same time most obvious method of detecting a critical oil level at an early stage is to manually check the oil dipstick, which is available on every vehicle. To do this, open the bonnet or the fairing on your motorcycle and look for a metal or rubber eyelet or loop on the engine that you can use to pull the rod out. This dipstick has a mark in the form of lines, notches or similar, which mark the minimum and maximum oil level. If the level is close to or below the minimum, you should definitely refill. When checking, make sure that your vehicle is standing straight so that the oil does not run off the rod and falsify the display.

Go safe. The oil in your vehicle also ages and can become boggy or dirty with abrasives. For this reason alone, you should have an oil change carried out regularly, at least once a year or after a certain mileage. The oil change not only gives you new, high-performance oil, it also ensures that the oil level is correct again. So that gives you two To fly hit with one stone.
