Calculate the average of the certificates in the upper level

In order to calculate the average certificate for the upper level, it is important to know the distribution of points for the individual grades. This means that the average of the certificates can be calculated in two ways.

Ratio of the points to the grades of the advanced level

• The same calculations apply to the calculation of the average of the certificates in the upper level as for a normal average calculation. However, it should be noted here that three different points belong to each grade.
• A one in the lower level can be differentiated in the upper level into 13, 14 or 15 points (1 minus, 1 and 1 plus). The only exception is grade 6. There are zero points in the upper level for this.

Calculate the average of the certificate

In order to calculate the average of the high school certificates, you can either convert the points into grades or use the points to calculate the average.

• When converting the points into grades, there may be deviations, as the individual grades are not taken into account when calculating. Points 10, 11 and 12 all count as grade two. Example: You got 13, 12, 9 and 5 points in 4 subjects. These are the notes 1, 2, 3 and 4. Together that is 10 divided by 4 (number of subjects) so you get an average of 2.5.

• When calculating with the points, calculate the total number and divide it by the number of grades awarded (subjects). You divide this result again by 3 (each grade has 3 point distributions) in order to calculate the average certificate for the upper level. This calculation is more accurate because it takes the gradations into account. The grades from the example above now result in an average grade of 39. You divide this by the 4 compartments and get an average of 9.75. The average grade is 3.25.
