Design your own cool folder backs

A shelf full of file folders is not really an ornament. The backs of files - no matter how neatly labeled - always remind you of official offices. It is not difficult to design them in such a way that they either do not catch the eye or become cool eye-catchers.

File folders are not decorative.
File folders are not decorative.

Depending on how many folders you need, the purchase of decoratively printed copies can be quite expensive. It is not at all difficult to design cool files yourself and to give the shelf in your study a completely new look.

File folders - so they are less noticeable

  • What you usually see of one or more rows of files is the spine. Certainly they look clean and tidy - with neatly labeled signs. Still, they are not beautiful.
  • In order to blend in color with the room environment, you can stick wallpaper on the staplers. It is not necessary to include the lids for this. It is sufficient if you tape their backs. If your study is papered, choose the same wallpaper that surrounds the shelf for the letter folder, or one that matches the color of the room design.
  • In order for the stuck folder spine to make a tidy impression, it is important that you cut out the pieces of paper cleanly and straight and that you glue them over the entire surface. Use a box cutter, a solid surface and a metal rail for cutting.
  • As an alternative to wallpaper and glue, you can also embellish the back with self-adhesive film.
  • Creative money gifts - this is how you make a cardboard cash register

Money gifts are very popular, but just put a few banknotes in ...

This is how folders become cool eye-catchers

  • Sticking a picture or poster on it does exactly the opposite, because it makes your folder an eye-catcher.
  • You need a motif that is not too filigree, the size and format of which depends on the number and arrangement of the files. The larger the total area of the glued back, the cooler and more decorative the effect.
  • Even if folders are placed close to each other on the shelf, only their lids collide. From the front, narrow longitudinal gaps gape between the backs. Visually, however, you will no longer perceive these interruptions between the taped backs later.
  • As with cutting the wallpaper, measure the exact size of the required paper strips and cut them to size. For the above reason it is not necessary to cut the strips to gaps. So don't make life unnecessarily difficult for yourself.
  • So that the pasted letter folders later reproduce the selected motif, you must now determine their distribution on the shelf. Then carefully glue the strips on.
  • Place the pasted copies on the shelf in the order you have previously determined and take a step back. If you have done your work properly and all of the binders are in the right place, you will recognize the image that you just cut up.
