How to lay click parquet correctly

Before you cut the click parquet, you should first take the individual parts out of the package and give them at least 48 hours to acclimate. In addition, the floor must be clean and dry and must not have any unevenness.

  1. Measure the space before laying in order to keep cutting residues as small as possible.
  2. First lay a suitable sub-floor as impact sound insulation, for example made of cork or felt. You can then lay the click parquet.
  3. Basically, you should start working at the far left corner of the room. Allow for a distance of 15 mm between the wall and the parquet, which you can achieve with the help of locking wedges.
  4. Use a saw to remove the springs from the first row of parquet and move the cut side towards the wall. The first piece should be about 50 cm long.

  6. Make the cutting easier for yourself by taking measurements on the first row you have laid. To do this, place a new panel on a piece of parquet that has already been laid and make the appropriate cuts.
  7. Lay the panel cut this way first in the next row. Please always place the cut edges against the wall so that the tongue and groove on the other side can overlap seamlessly.
  8. When laying the last row, often incomplete elements can be laid. To make cutting easier at this point, you must first determine the width of the last row laid. To do this, lay the plank that you need to shorten on the last row with the underside up. You can then use a piece of plank - which you have shortened around the expansion joint - and a pencil attached to it to draw the appropriate cutting line on the plank that has been placed.
  9. In order to get a clean cut edge afterwards, you have to cut the boards according to the cut line - lengthways. However, only the part of the board that contains the tongue may be cut. Make sure that the wear layer is on the bottom.
  10. You can lock the system using a hammer and an impact guard.
  11. After laying the floor, you should provide the end of the wall with skirting boards.
