Understand flight routes with the route planner
If you are planning flight routes as a hobby pilot or are interested in flight routes for other reasons, you can get individual information about them in digital route planners.

If you are planning a hobby flight and want to calculate your exact flight route for this purpose, if you have routes from certain aircraft for research purposes want to track or if you are interested in the route of your last vacation flight - in all of these cases a route planner is a good one Solution. In principle, flight routes can be calculated just as easily using a route planner as, for example, car routes.
Find flight routes cleverly
In general, you need to know the coordinates and the geographical location from which you are starting and where you want to land in the truest sense of the word.
If you have certain ideas about the course of the route, you can also specify areas to be overflown or intermediate destinations for stopovers.
So you mark a point in the route planner or type in a point, also enter the end point and get a suitable route in between.
The flight route is given either in the classic way in kilometers or, more specifically, in nautical miles. The speed of the aircraft is usually given in knots.
Of course, you always have to expect that weather is changing and air traffic is constantly changing. So you can only roughly calculate the flight time.

Well informed with the route planner
There are several good route planners that you can use to calculate your own flight routes
the IVAO Flight Database is always up to date and therefore recommended. If you search for 'Routes' in English or search for 'Piloten' and then 'Flugrouten' in German, you will quickly find what you are looking for.
Even VATroute is such a route planner that is constantly being expanded to include new flight routes and is easy to use.
For longer flights, a so-called large-circle computer is recommended to find out your desired route.
At Eurocontrol you can have a planned route checked and receive a message as to whether the route plan can be flown in this way. To do this, enter your flight plan online and press 'Validate'. If you do not receive an error message here, the flight can be carried out this way.
For a scheduled flight, check the airline's homepage for the route.
Another good source are newly emerging flight routes, which are always published when an airport is built and the flight routes are rescheduled accordingly. Here you can find out the flight routes directly at the airport and mostly online and incorporate them into your personal route planning.
