Making good use of retirement as a teacher

If you are still active as a retired teacher and want to work a little and earn some extra money, you can give tutoring. The demand is constantly increasing because, for various reasons, more and more students have difficulties understanding and retrieving the school material. If you still want to work in retirement
- If you have retired as a teacher and love your job, you may not want to give it up completely right away. You could give tuition to help students get better grades and earn a little extra money at the same time.
- You have the opportunity to give tutoring on an independent basis. Report this to the tax office so that you get a tax number and state the income on your tax return. These count as additional earnings and you have to pay taxes on them accordingly.
- Create a room with a desk in your home and invite students to come over. If you live for rent, you should inform the landlord of this activity.
- Advertise in the regional newspaper or post your offer in consultation with the headmistress in your old school or in other schools in the town. In this way, the students will notice you and you will quickly gain access.

Work as a fee-based teacher at the tutoring institute
- There are tutoring institutes in every major city where you can work on a fee basis. Certified teachers are always wanted, and that you are already retired doesn't matter.
- Check the phone book or the press to find out if there is a tutoring institute near you and contact them accordingly. You are sure to be invited to an interview, especially if you have taught in subjects that are lacking.
- If you are employed, you are also self-employed; billing is on a fee basis. You will receive a previously agreed wage for every hour you stop.
Make sure that you only offer your help in the subjects that you have taught and in which you are so well trained. In tutoring institutes in particular, you are often asked to teach other subjects as well. You should refuse, because it will not help the students if you do not have a perfect command of the material.
