• If there are blockages or old deposits in the pipes, for example from hair or toilet paper residues, these will be broken down. Digestion gases develop that can reach the toilet bowl. A plumber can check if your pipes need professional cleaning.
• In old pipes, fine cracks can form, which are responsible for the sewer odor. Have your pipes checked if you suspect this. A defective porcelain sink can also promote odors. Have old cymbals replaced.
• Check the seals on your toilet. If they are brittle, you should renew them.
• If it stinks, a defective, empty or blocked siphon can also be responsible. The siphon is a kind of odor trap that connects the drain with the sewage pipe. Use a wire brush to clean the siphon. If the drain is too angled to clean, you can dismantle it and reinstall it after cleaning. However, you need manual experience for this.
