  • Since 01. January 2013 there are some changes to the license fee. The GEZ, the fee collection center, based in Cologne, collects the license fee from you as a citizen. Here you can also apply for an exemption from the fee.
  • In contrast to before, the contribution is now collected per household. It doesn't matter how many televisions or radios there are in your household. For you as a private consumer, this can mean savings.
  • According to the new regulation of the broadcasting fee, people with disabilities now also have to pay a small fee. However, do you receive a social benefit such as unemployment benefit II, basic security, Social assistance or BAföG as a person with disabilities, you can continue to receive an exemption apply for.
  • As a disabled person, you will not receive any social benefitsbecause your income is too high up to a maximum of 17.98 euros, you can apply for an exemption in the sense of a hardship provision.
  • You can also apply for an exemption as a deaf-blind person. To do this, you need a medical certificate, a severely disabled person's ID with the notes Bl and Gl and a certificate from your responsible pension office stating your degree of vision and Hearing impairment.
