How to build a log pile for potato storage

  1. To store around 200 kg of potatoes, a pile of wood measuring 60 x 60 x 80 cm is sufficient.
  2. You first start with the floor of the timber rent. To do this, saw 2 roof battens to a length of 60 cm. Place the two slats parallel on a flat surface, also 60 cm apart.
  3. Then saw 6 boards that are 10 cm wide to a length of 60 cm. You attach these 6 boards to the two battens with nails.
  4. Then mount a batten 80 cm long with a metal bracket and screws at each corner. You should make sure that the slats are aligned exactly vertically. You can easily check that with an angle.
  5. Now the side walls of the timber pile are still missing. To do this, you have to saw 28 boards, each 60 cm long. You attach the boards to the previously installed roof battens with 4 x 50 screws.
  6. So that the potatoes in the timber pile are adequately ventilated, you should leave a gap of 2 cm between the individual boards.
