With a jewelry box, you always have jewelry and other valuables in the right place. Such a box is also ideal as a gift: With a little skill, it is easy to make from wood.

If you have a jewelry box from wood do it yourself, you can decide for yourself how it should look: whether narrow or wide, with three drawers or just one. These instructions are designed for a small box with three drawers - but you can easily convert them to make a box the way you want.

How to make a wooden jewelry box

  1. With the pencil on the wooden board, sketch the size of the front and back as well as the sides and bottom. Since you will be installing three drawers in the box, it should be a little narrower, but higher. A tall, square shape is ideal. Saw out all parts.
  2. On the front, draw three rectangular holes for the drawers and saw them out. The cut-out parts will later form the fronts of the drawers, so you should keep them. Make sure you leave at least 0.5 cm of space between the drawers and under the last drawer. Also leave about three to four centimeters of space above the top drawer.
  3. Glue the side walls to the front and back of the box. Use wood glue and, if possible, clamp or fix the parts in place while they dry. Also glue the base to the body.
  4. Now make the drawers. The size of the side parts and the bottom is based on the other dimensions of your jewelry box. The parts that have just been cut out form the front of the drawers.
  5. Playmobil: Build a single-family house 3965 out of wood - this is how it works

The Playmobil single-family house 3965 is a very nice house. But if you prefer ...

  6. Glue the drawers together and let them dry. When dry, you can either add a small strip of wood as a handle, or drill a hole in it and attach a nice screw or handle.
  7. Cut a piece out of the velvet that matches the inside size of the drawers. You can also tape the sides of the drawers. Glue the velvet in the drawers.
  8. Cut two small strips of wood three times from the large wooden board in the depth of the box. These serve as guides for the drawers.
  9. Glue two of the wooden strips horizontally on the left and right from the inside to the side walls so that they are below the bottom drawer. If you don't have a lot of space, glue them to the bottom of the box.
  10. Do the same for the other two drawers. Here, too, glue two strips on the left and right under the drawer. To do this, simply insert the relevant drawer into the body and mark where the bar has to be attached.
  11. Attach two more strips of wood over the top drawer. On this you place a wooden board that exactly corresponds to the interior. This creates another compartment that can be opened from above. Also glue velvet in this compartment on the bottom and sides.
  12. Next, make the lid of the jewelry box. To do this, saw out another board the size of the interior. Attach small strips of wood on all four sides, on which the lid rests. The strips should be attached at a distance of 5 mm from the upper edge so that the lid closes the box flush.
  13. Attach either a wooden strip to the lid as a handle or drill a hole in it for a screw or a small handle.
  14. Finally, you can paint the jewelry box or glaze it with wood paint.
