Steinberg Cubase is an extensive one software for the digital creation and editing of music. From ambitious home musicians to professionals, it is used everywhere and offers a wide range of possibilities. Cubase projects since version 4 have the file extension * .cpr. Since this file format is protected, it cannot be opened with any other program.

Open a * .cpr file with Cubase

  • Steinberg Cubase is widely used and therefore it is no problem to purchase the program. The current version number 6 is available in three different versions: The most extensive with the simple title Cubase 6 (approx 599 euros), a slightly stripped-down version called Cubase Artist 6 (approx. 299 euros) and, as an entry-level version, Cubase Elements 6 (approx. 99 Euro).
  • If you don't necessarily want to buy the whole program just to open a * .cpr file, you can also get the free trial version directly from Steinberg download. This gives you the opportunity to test the program for 30 days.
  • Once the software has been installed, it is also easy to open the * .cpr file: After the Installation, all cpr files are automatically linked to Cubase and can be opened with a double click to open. If this is not the case, simply set Steinberg Cubase as the standard program for opening cpr files in the control panel.
  • Another note at the end: cpr files do not contain the ones used Audio- files of the project. If you want to listen to the music, all audio files used in the project should be sent along for security.
