VIDEO: Minecraft: Refill Life

The life energy is in Minecraft rather sparsely sown. Unlike in many current games, life does not regenerate itself if the player is injured. Instead, the player, i.e. you, has to take action and heal yourself. This can be overwhelming, especially for beginners in Minecraft, as there is only one source of healing and that is food. These can be found in various places in the world, but they are difficult to obtain. Above all, the high-quality foods, which replenish a lot of life, are only available through recipes. However, once you have found a food item, it can be selected in the inventory like a normal block. By clicking the right mouse button, the character takes the food.

Here's how to replenish your life in Minecraft

  • The main sources of healing are the early available foods. Above all, this includes pork ("Porkchop"), which you can get by defeating pigs in Minecraft. Since pigs are peaceful animals, don't fight back. After their death, pigs drop up to three units of pork. This raw pork ("Raw Porkchop") fills life by 1.5 hearts. There is also the option of cooking the pork in an oven ("Furnace") to make cooked pork ("Cooked Porkchop"). This refines the meat and instead heals four hearts.
  • Other sources of healing are fish, but these are comparatively hard to come by. You have to catch fish with the help of a fishing rod that you first have to build. Since a fishing rod requires a unit of thread that can only be obtained by killing spiders, it is difficult for beginners to achieve. At the same time, a raw fish only heals one heart and a cooked fish only three lives, which makes fish food uninteresting compared to pork.
  • For longer trips in the world of Minecraft, bread ("Bread") is particularly suitable, as it is easy to make once you have the necessary raw materials. You need three units of wheat ("Wheat"), which are placed on the workbench ("Crafting Table") in the lower three squares of the grid. Wheat is stackable so that you can easily take raw materials for several breads with you and then process them when you travel. Bread fills up 2.5 lives.

It should be noted that food in Minecraft cannot be stacked, so a fish for example always uses up one inventory space, while raw materials such as stone in stacks of 64 only consume one inventory space consume. This means that you have to weigh up the importance of inventory space. This is why wheat is the food of choice when long journeys are pending, while pork is particularly suitable for an acute replenishment of life when inventory space is not an issue.
