Reasons for black skin on the joints

If you the causes black skin by the elbows and knees, you can also easily prevent the discoloration.

  • Most of the time you have dry skin on your elbows with a somewhat thicker horny layer. This phenomenon is reinforced by certain habits, for example when you prop up your elbows at the table.
  • Of course, the dry and cracked skin can also lead to small bleeding, which settles as a dark scab and makes the skin on the elbow appear even darker. It then looks like dirty black skin.
  • It is especially bad when you use self-tanner. This stains the horny layer dark. Thick horny layers, such as those on the knees and elbows, are therefore clearly darker in color. In addition, the self-tanner settles well on these areas of the skin, so apply more there than you want.

This is how you get nice elbows and knees

  1. Peel your elbows and knees as early as spring. The easiest way to do this is with a fine pumice stone, which you use after a long bath. But you can also apply a mixture of honey and salt, rub well and then work on your elbows and knees in the shower.

  4. Mix self-tanner 1 to 1 with body milk and apply this mixture to the critical areas instead of using pure self-tanner.
  5. If you go out in the sun, put a cream on your elbows and knees that has a higher sun protection factor than the one for the rest of the body, a blocker also makes sense here.
