The trend of coloring the ends of the hair in a noticeably bright color and leaving the rest of the hair undyed, in other words "dip dye", does not necessarily require special colors. You can at least test the look with simple watercolors.

General information on Dip Dye

  • Even if Dip Dye looks like you only have to dip the ends of your hair in color, it is usually not that simple. Unless you have very light hair, you will need to bleach the ends of your hair first so that the bright colors come out nicely. With black or brown it won't work without bleaching. First bleach a little at the tips, you can easily have this cut off if you don't like the look.
  • Even with blonde hair, you have to expect that the colors will not come out very clearly. But here you can test whether you generally like the look. You can only get really bright colors with light blonde hair if you bleach the tips.

It's easy to use. Moisten the hair and distribute the color in the places where it should be colorful. Massage the colors in well. Then let them dry. Usually the result is better if the

hair Brush through while still damp.

This must be taken into account when dyeing with watercolors

  • Quite a few hair colors are watercolors if the packaging says the color is brushable or washable. But also paint boxes with opaque paint are included.
  • In general, dip dye with water colors means that the colored hair is not permanent, the colors are water-soluble and will not stay on the hair. But you don't vanish into thin air. After a rain the bright color is on the clothes. This can also happen if you are sweating profusely. So it is advisable not to wear light colored clothing. You should also expect discoloration of the bed linen. You can prevent this by sleeping with a headscarf on.
  • Make dip dye yourself

You would like to make a change to your hair without you having to ...

  • Even if the colors do not contain any binding agents that ensure that they are waterproof, this does not mean that the color pigments cannot cause discoloration. To be clear: even watercolors can permanently discolour hair and clothing. It is always possible that you will not get any remnants of the paint out.

So if you just want to test something without obligation, only treat as much of the hair as you want to sacrifice to the scissors if necessary. The lighter the hair or the clothing the greater the risk of permanent discoloration.
