- Never use normal tap water to clean your sofa. The lime content of the water creates unsightly edges that you cannot get rid of anytime soon. Distilled water or mineral water is better here.
- Put some washing-up liquid or shampoo on the stains and carefully dab the stain with a microfiber cloth. Let the area dry.

- Another option is to use gall soap. Soak the gall soap on a light-colored cloth (to avoid discoloration) and then rub the soap in lightly. Pat the area dry with a cloth.
- Dissolve washing powder and rub it on the couch with a sponge (rough side). Let the foam soak in, then rub the couch dry with towels.
- If the fabric has any rough spots afterwards, you can get them soft again with a soft clothes brush.
