DVB-T is the easiest and cheapest way to receive high definition digital television. You need a television set with a built-in DVB-T tuner and an indoor antenna. You can install an external receiver on older televisions. If the reception is not sufficient in very well sealed rooms, for example, you should use an external antenna or increase the antenna reception.
The external antenna is the first choice for DVB-T
If you can, you should install an outdoor antenna for DVB-T reception.
- The installation of an external antenna is not always permitted. If you live for rent, you have to ask the landlord whether you can install such an antenna on the facade. As a rule, the landlord has the right to prohibit the installation.
- However, you can install the antenna if you have a balcony. Nobody can forbid you to put an antenna in a corner or on a shelf until you drill holes in the facade.
- An outside antenna almost always offers very good reception, as this is not impaired by a shielding structure.

Reinforce a DVB-T indoor antenna
- If you can only install an indoor antenna and the television picture forms blocks and remains permanently, the reception is probably not sufficient. Install an antenna booster to improve reception.
- Plug the antenna amplifier into a socket and connect it to your DVB-T antenna. Plug that cable of the antenna amplifier in your tuner on the television set or on the DVB-T receiver.
Sometimes it is also worth buying a more expensive antenna to amplify the signal. These models are also pleasantly small and can be hidden behind a cupboard or behind the television set. The reception line is much better than with inexpensive DVB-T antennas.
