Remove wax from glass
Burning candles create a cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately, it often happens that candle wax drips onto a glass plate. Removing the wax from glass poses more of a challenge to you. But it is still possible to get the dirty glass clean again. You can read here how it works.
What you need:
- Ceran field scraper or knife
- Vacuum cleaner (optional)
- Kitchen roll
- nail polish remover
- Glass cleaner
- Microfiber cloth
Candle wax on the glass top of your table is annoying because you can't wipe it off that easily. Nevertheless - with some effort - the complete removal is possible.
Remove wax - that's how it works
- Please be careful not to attempt to remove the soft wax from the glass plate. It would just smear and the mess would be worse.
- So be patient and wait until the wax is completely dry. If it is a single, large patch of wax, you are still lucky and can remove it from the glass in one piece with a little dexterity. However, if there are also small splashes of wax on the glass, you can only remove them by scraping. Use a ceramic hob scraper or a knife, which you draw and slide as flat as possible with the cutting edge over the glass plate. Carefully wipe the dissolved wax off the glass plate. If there is a large amount of wax that you need to remove, it may be worth using a vacuum cleaner. With it you simply suck the loosened wax crumbs from the glass plate.
How to clean the glass perfectly
- The wax has been removed, but unfortunately there are still greasy stains and streaks on the glass. You have to get to grips with them now. Use nail polish remover for this. The acetone it contains is sharp, but cannot damage the glass. Please do not use this method on other surfaces! Soak a paper towel in acetone and rub the smeared area quickly. Please don't skimp on nail polish remover or paper. The acetone evaporates quickly and the glass is immediately dry again. However, if you look closely, it has left a whitish layer on the glass. You will certainly want to remove these.
- To do this, put glass cleaner on a microfiber cloth and carefully wipe the glass plate with the soaked cloth.
- Finally, polish the glass with a dry paper towel.
