If you Whatsapp on their Smartphone installed and start the application, there are various options at the bottom of the screen:

• If you click on "Favorites", you will see the contacts from your phone book that Whatsapp already have.
• Usually your smartphone will automatically sync these contacts so you don't have to add them yourself.
• The only requirement for this is that you have the mobile phone number of your contacts in your phone book.
• Of course, you might also like to communicate with friends who have a smartphone but do not yet have Whatsapp. Then you have the option of inviting these friends to use.

• To do this, click on "Contacts" in the application to open your phone book list. Then select the contact you want and invite them to Whatsapp. If the invitation is accepted, the application will automatically add the contact again and you can send free messages and pictures.

Add a contact to the application

1. If you would like to add a new contact to Whatsapp, all you have to do is create a new entry in your phone book.
2. There you enter the mobile phone number of your new contact and save the entry.
3. Then open the Whatsapp application and click on "Favorites" in the lower option bar and on the plus symbol in the upper right corner.
4. Your phone book list will open immediately and you can add the newly created contact to your Whatsapp favorites.
5. Immediately after you have added the contact, you can send a message to them. If your contact does not have you on their list yet, they can still receive your messages and reply to you.
6. Then your interlocutor would have to use the displayed number and create a new contact, then your name will be displayed when the messages are received.
