VIDEO: Attaching the drawer rails correctly

instagram viewer

Drawer rails attach to the inside of a cabinet. The drawer is hooked into it so that it can be pulled out and in again along the rail. There are different types of drawer slides. The most important distinction is whether the rail has a stopper to prevent it from slipping out accidentally and whether it retracts itself after gently pushing it. It is important that the rails are attached correctly. Only then can the drawer run smoothly.

How to Install Drawer Slides

  1. First, attach both drawer slides to the slide bar of the drawer.
  2. Then insert the drawer into the cabinet in which it is to be installed. This is necessary to determine the exact height at which the drawer will be installed. Measure this height or make a corresponding mark with a pencil.
  3. Take the drawer out of the cabinet again and detach the drawer rails from the drawer again. Hold the strips in the cabinet at the marked height and mark the drill holes.
  4. Pre-drill the holes with a small wood drill. Make sure that you do not break through the outer wall of the cabinet with the drill.
