Opel Astra G: fuse defective
If a fuse should ever be defective on your vehicle, you do not need to go straight to the nearest workshop. These instructions explain which fuses you need and how to change them.
What you need:
- Fuses to replace (usually a small box from the car accessories)
- tool

- The fuses for cars are small, colorful flat fuses that you can buy in car accessories. It pays to buy a whole box of different fuses so that you always have some in stock.
- If there is no car accessory shop in your area, you can also find the fuses in hardware stores in the car department. By the way, there are no special fuses for your Opel Astra G, in most cases all vehicles have the same fuses.
Analyze the problem on the Opel Astra G.
- First of all, analyze what the problem is with your Opel Astra G. It is sometimes not that easy to find out whether it is really a defective fuse or perhaps a defective mechanism.
- If you have located the fault and are sure that it is not the mechanical system, then obtain the backup plan. This is usually included with the operating instructions, or you can see whether it can be found on the inside of the fuse box cover.
Replace the fuse
The fuse box on the Opel Astra G is located on the steering wheel at the bottom left behind the storage compartment and the main fuse box is in the engine compartment.

- Remove the cover from the fuse box.
- Use the plan to find the backup in question. For example, if the horn is defective, it would be fuse number 10.
- Pull out the fuse in question.
- Now take the appropriate new fuse, in this case the 15 A (blue) and replace it by inserting the fuse into the holder.
- Close the fuse box tightly again, especially in the engine compartment, otherwise moisture can get into the fuse box.
- Do a review.
