When can I change schools?
When can you actually change schools? When moving house or the child is bullied, this question comes up very often. The change is sometimes easier than is often thought.
When you can and should switch to another school
- If you just want to go to another educational institution of the same type of school, that is still no problem.
- Of course, there is also the question of when you can actually do that in space. In principle, it is possible to change schools every six months or the new year.
- In principle, of course, it is more suitable to go to the new educational institution in the New Year, because No material that has already been started is covered here that may not be (yet) available at the old school would have. If you are willing to catch up on something in several subjects, you can of course do so. Of course, the "when" always depends on the reason for the change. In exceptional cases, you can even go to the other school in the middle of the current year.
- You may need to talk to the school beforehand about what is going through and how your child can prepare for it.
This is how the school change to a higher school type succeeds
- If you want to switch to a higher form of education (for example from secondary school to the high school), should switch to the other type of school as early as possible so that important subjects are not missed.
- If you haven't thought about it beforehand, having finished secondary school is of course a very good option. However, there may be deficits in some subjects (especially the natural sciences). You may be able to speak to the teachers beforehand to get an overview of what is being covered.
- If there are people in the school type who skip classes and therefore get "tutoring", you might be able to join in for better access.
