A pond grid prevents your children from falling into the pond. With a little craftsmanship, you can install it yourself.

What you need:

  • Steel mats (number / size depending on the pond size)
  • 1 bolt cutter
  • 1 long tape measure
  • 1 pen
  • 1 welding machine
  • 1 flat iron
  • 1 spade
  • 1 brush
  • 1 can of anti-rust paint
  • 1 can of steel paint

  1. Record scope. Draw the exact circumference of your garden pond on the grid.

  6. Apply rust protection. Coat the pond grid with an anti-rust primer after you have freed it from rust with sandpaper.
  7. Roughen the pond grid. When the anti-rust primer has dried properly after eight hours, lightly roughen the pond grid with sandpaper.
  8. Paint the grid. Now paint the grille really thick with a color of your choice. It gets classic with black color.
  9. Mount the grille. After the paint has dried, mount the grid on the support edge around your pond. The weight of the grid now disappears just below the surface of the water.

Tips and hints

  • Ask a second person to help assemble the grille.
  • Plant or re-sow the bearing surface race on this area.
  • Beautify the edge of the pond with decorative stones that additionally stabilize the grid.
