VIDEO: Calculate the cross section

instagram viewer

This is how you get the cross section

  • To calculate the area of a circle, i.e. the cross section, you only need its radius. Measure the diameter of the circle on two opposite sides and divide it by 2. You now have the radius.
  • The formula for calculating the circle is r2 * Pi. Pi is the so-called circle constant. This has a value of around 3.14159. So you multiply the radius of the circle by yourself and take that result times 3.14159. You have now determined the area of the circle.
  • You can always calculate the cross-section of a body if it is circular. If it is bulged or has rough edges, there is no general formula. In this case you have to divide the area into different individual areas and calculate them individually and then add them up.

Calculate the radius with the area

If you only have the cross-section, but you want to calculate the diameter of the object, that's no problem either:

  • All you have to do is divide the area by pi. Then you pull the root of this result. What remains is the radius. To get the diameter you have to multiply it by 2.
  • Calculate the diameter - this is how it works

To calculate a circle it is also necessary to be able to calculate the diameter. Depending on, …

  • By the way, do not confuse the cross-section with the circumference. When it comes to DIY, the circumference is more important than the cross-section.
  • However, you can also easily calculate the scope with the given values. Just take the diameter of the object (i.e. twice the radius) and multiply this by pi. In contrast to the cross-section calculation, this result is not available in (for example) square centimeters, but in Centimeters.
