  1. First you cook the potatoes in the salted water and then use a fork to process them into mashed potatoes.
  2. In the next step, the potatoes are mixed with the low-fat quark, preferably when they are still warm. This creates a nice, smooth mass.
  3. Then cut the onions into small pieces and brown them in the pan in oil.
  4. Now add the onions to the potato and quark mixture and season with salt, pepper and paprika. The taste can be a bit piquant.

Christmas Eve will be a dream with this dough

  1. First mix the flour with the salt and then add the egg yolks and butter.
  2. Before you mix the whole thing, a small hole should be made in the middle of the flour hill, where the warm water comes in. Under no circumstances should the water be too hot!
  3. Now it's time to knead! Mix all the ingredients together well to create a nice dough shape.
  4. Next, roll the dough flat on a countertop strewn with flour.
  5. With a round glass, twist circles out of the dough.
  6. Now use a small spoon to help you remove some of the filling. Place this in the middle of the dough circle, which you then "bend" in order to glue the two halves of the circle together. Be careful that you do not get any filling on the glued areas, because that should make the gluing considerably more difficult.
  7. It is best if you place all the finished pierogi on a floured surface, because then they do not stick to the surface.
  8. At the end comes the best part: you boil water in a saucepan until it really bubbles. Now the pierogi go into the pot and have to cook until they rise to the top by themselves. You can then fish them out using a special wooden spoon (with a small hole).

The unique dish can be served with the brown roasted onions and has an unforgettable taste. A wonderful Christmas Eve for you and your family. By the way, there are more recipes for Polish and Russian specialties. Have fun looking!
