VIDEO: Fold a bird out of a banknote
How to fold a bird
- Fold a square. Most instructions for origami figures refer to square paper. Fold the bill in half once to approximate the shape of a square.
- Fold a diagonal. Now fold a diagonal and open it again. (Since the square is not perfect, an edge protrudes a little on one side. Don't try to bring the corners together.)
- Fold a diamond. Carefully place the corners not touched by the diagonal in the center so that you get a diamond shape.
- Fold the diamond smaller. Fold this diamond in half along the first diagonal.
- Fold tips up. Fold the top of this shape up. The two mold parts should form approximately a right angle to each other. Then put the tip back again.
- Open the long fold. Now open the long fold again so that you get a diamond again. Place this with the back side up.
- Fold the bird's neck. Fold the tapered tip backwards. This will be your origami bird's neck.
- Fold in the middle. Fold the bill in half again along the existing fold.
- Shape the neck. Now gently pull the bird's neck forward and press the line firmly.
- Working out the head. Fold a small piece of the top of the neck down to the side. This is the bird's head.
- Make the bird sit down. Now fold the lower side up on both sides. This is how your bird sits upright.

If you are using a larger bill
If you make the neck a little thicker and the head longer, you can also make the beak. To do this, fold the tip of the head down and up again at a distance of a few millimeters. This creates a small edge that indicates the beak.
You can also use the same folding technique as for the neck and head to add a little more detail to the bird's tail.
Then finally fold the bottom edges inwards to accommodate the origami-Bird to give better grip.
The bigger your bills, the easier it is to get them Money gifts handcraft. With a little skill, the folding instructions also work with a small five-euro note.
