- However, things are not going so well for the friends and their friendship at university. Angela falls in love and spends more and more time with the young Jarred and Gracey joins the political activists around Rhonda Haines. The two become estranged from each other and the sporty Gracey even gives up her studies. In a small town she would like to start a new life with the Aborigines. Angela tries to save the friendship and approaches Rhonda, but she ignores them and henceforth makes Angela uncomfortable.
- Angela does research and learns more about the so-called Stolen Generation. She learns that Aboriginal children used to be torn away from their families and brought up by white standards. She can take Gracey's decision to hers root return, understand better now. She also learns that her own grandfather was one of the child-child nappers.
