Example of writing a discussion using a text template

The text-bound discussion is divided in this example into an introduction, a main part and a conclusion, with the main part the antithesis, the thesis, the argumentation and the accompanying documents are given.

  1. Start with the introduction by stating in one sentence that the report "The many eyes of the 'big brother'" written by Karolin Gunzert, on know. ARD.de appeared on January 28, 2009 and the author deals with the problem of the steadily growing surveillance of citizens in public places Surveillance cameras describes what, in your opinion, creates a surveillance state and the right of citizens to informational self-determination is being undermined.
  2. In the main part, state that the author describes that more and more cameras are being used in public places and the proponents see the reason that they would help to uncover crimes come. It underpins this point of view with the fall of the London bombing. Use the lines in the text as evidence for this argument.
  3. Now describe that Karolin Gunzert cites as a counter-argument that in Great Britain as opposed to Germany It is much less monitored, but it is impossible not to be captured by cameras, as not only the police but also private individuals take pictures. She finds it particularly problematic that those filmed often do not know anything about the pictures and therefore cannot consent to the use of their personal data.
  4. In the main part, explain that the cameras change the citizens' feeling of security, i.e. a psychological effect. Karolin Gunzert underlines this with the quote from Lord Mayor Hildebrand Diehl. However, it does not see video surveillance as a flawless way to fight crime, and it proves this with the situation of prominent places in city centers, which criminals only avoid because of the cameras.
  5. Now deal with the linguistic means that the author uses to deal with the topic. It is noticeable that she uses statements from supporters and opponents and writes in the style of a report. Your opinion is supported by the description of the situation, citing that there are too many surveillance cameras to a surveillance state and keeping public places clean, but not to curb crime leads.
  6. Now justify your own opinion on the topic and describe whether the author's content, intention and language has linked well.
