Write an expectation report for the school internship
As a rule, an expectation report should be written before the start of the school internship. The aim is to be clear about your own expectations and to be able to compare them with actual experiences after the internship is over. If you keep a few things in mind, writing an expectation report is not at all difficult and quick.
The expectation report is about yourself
Basically, when you write an expectation report, it is only about you, as you should formulate how you personally imagine the internship and what you expect from it. You should pay attention to the following points.
- An expectation report does not usually have to be long. Most of the time, a single page is enough on which you can summarize and justify your expectations in a nutshell.
- It makes sense to begin the expectation report by briefly referring to your previous experience and previous knowledge the area in which you are going to do your school internship and explain why you decided to do it to have.
- If you have no previous knowledge at all, this is by no means a minus point in the expectation report. Rather, it is about writing exactly that and thus emphasizing your openness to the everyday work of the internship.
How do you imagine your internship?
An important part of the expectation report is the range of tasks that you think you will have to deal with during the internship. You do not have to know what you are actually going to do, just express your ideas about it. Specifically, answering the following questions could help you:

- What will the daily routine for the internship look like? What challenges will you face while working? How do you imagine the working atmosphere?
- Your personal learning goals are just as important for the expectations report: What are you hoping for from the internship? What do you think you will learn there? How can you use what you have learned in the future?
- There is nothing wrong with including doubts or worries in the experience report. Are you afraid of not getting along with your colleagues or of not being able to cope with certain tasks? Are you looking forward to the internship or do you want to get it over with quickly?
Don't see writing an expectation report just as a chore. You can learn a lot about yourself and your professional ideas. It can also be very exciting to have the expectation report later with the actual internship report to compare, since the actual experiences often differ greatly from previous expectations differ.
