Of course, every bag has its own smell when you buy it, but it is usually not very penetrative and also evaporates very quickly. If your bag really smells of chemicals, it could be because you bought a counterfeit product at a holiday bazaar or because the bag was poorly made. You can try to remove the odor, but sometimes you cannot.
Bag stinks of chemistry - that might help
- Take a bowl of water and add some white vinegar. Use this vinegar solution to clean the inside and outside of the bag. Of course, the bag will smell a bit of vinegar at first, but this smell will dissipate. Since vinegar is an odor neutralizer, the stench should then be gone.
- If the bag only smells from the inside, take a cloth bag and fill it with coffee powder or baking powder. Put the sachet in the pocket and leave it for a few days. Both also neutralize Smells.
- You can also put a bar of scented soap in the bag. The scented soap can only drown out the smell of chemicals if it is not too strong.
- Hang the bag on the balcony for a night or hang it inside bathwhen you shower. The steam and fresh air can help.

- Maybe cleaning can help too. But the bag must be washable.
- Is the bag made of real leather, ask a furrier for advice. Often, leather products contain special softeners that stink terribly.
