An insect repellent is beneficial in summer when you don't feel like bothering with mosquitoes and other insects. But what should you do if you live in the attic and only have skylights? That's not a big problem either. Here you can find out how to make a pivot window insect-proof.

After a hot summer's day, there is almost nothing better than letting cooler air into the apartment in the evening, or preferably all night long window to have opened. In attic apartments in particular, it gets quite warm and you long to cool down. But you quickly regret having opened the window when the first mosquitos buzz. Attaching an insect screen to a center pivot window is unfortunately not as easy as with a normal window. But it is still possible to have a pivoting window mosquito-proof.

Install an insect screen on the center pivot window

  1. First you have to measure your center pivot window. You need the exact dimensions of the inner frame. This does not mean the window frame of the pivoting window, but the outer frame of the masonry around the pivoting window. Then buy an insect screen in the right or at least almost the right size.
  2. First of all, hold the roll with the insect screen straight and in the middle of the upper window cutout in front of the center pivot window, it should be flush with the frame. Then screw the construction with two screws on each side after you have marked and predrilled the drill holes. For this work you need a helping hand who holds the insect screen while you screw it on the sides.
  3. Then you have to attach the two side profiles by hooking them into the roller blind construction and screwing them on with at least four screws for each rail, but not yet tightening them. If necessary, extend the side profiles beforehand using a special connecting piece. Now the lower profile is still missing to complete the frame of the insect screen for your center pivot window.
  4. Hold the lower profile on the window frame and connect the lower and side profiles with one another using the plug-in connection provided. For a better hold, attach the lower profile with three additional screws. When everything is in place, you can tighten the screws on the profiles. Then loosen the cords from the cord holders on the insect blind and feed them through the holes in the end caps. Leave the cord holders in place.
  5. Fly protection for roof windows - this is what you should consider when choosing

You can also find a fly screen for a roof window. This must of course ...

  6. Tighten the cords until the ball sits in the center of the lower screw and adjust the Cords on both sides (this depends on the window dimensions) with the lower corner of the Side profiles. Then attach the cords to the lower screw of the side profiles. Only now can you remove the cord holder and pull down the insect blind once to test whether everything works. Then pull it up again.
  7. If everything is correct, attach the panels to the sides of the insect roller blind and cut the cover strips to size. Now insert the cover strips into all three profiles. From now on, your center pivot window should be equipped with a simple insect screen that you can pull up at any time when you want to open, close or clean the window. Of course, the installation of an insect screen for pivoting windows can vary a little between the different suppliers, but you can read about this in the instructions for use supplied.
