Placement pictures are for illustration purposes; they are used, for example, to explain the structure of a flower. You can make such pictures yourself and let them become true works of art.

The layout of a real flower - that's how it works

In order to be able to analyze the blossoms of a certain kind of flower, you have to disassemble them, put them into a pattern and analyze them. A puzzle pulls the petals apart to explore the different positions and shapes of the petals.

  1. Find a layered flower, such as that of two different varieties of roses.
  2. Then take a flower in your hand and use the tweezers to carefully pull the petals out of the calyx from the outside in.
  3. Place the outer circle of leaves on the drawing cardboard inside a larger circle. Keep in mind that you will lay several rows.
  4. Do the same with the second layer and place these leaves slightly offset to the outer circle as the inner circle.
  5. How do you dry flowers? - Directions

Flowers can be dried in several ways. Depending on which flowers you want to dry, ...

  6. Work your way up to the stamp and also pull out the stamp threads in order to then spread them out centrally in a circle.
  7. Finally, you should fix the sheets on the cardboard with some spray adhesive and cover them with kitchen paper or blotting paper.
  8. Weight the spread on the paper with some books so that the leaves are all pressed. The paper will absorb any moisture that may be present.

Creative ideas for a laying picture

You probably know the kaleidoscope from your childhood. This is a tube that you had to shake to then look into it like binoculars. Through an optical illusion with a few mirrors, you had a huge flower-like pattern made of colorful glass stones in front of your eyes. Perhaps you are also interested in mandalas, which you can also use for your pattern made of flower petals.

  • Look for extra lush flowers with lots of petals to create a bigger picture.
  • Be creative and work with the petals of the same flowers but different colors. First lay out the outer layers in two colors and rows on the cardboard and then the others. Get inspiration from the kaleidoscope.
  • With the laying figure, change the natural order of the leaves and simply lay them out as a beautiful pattern without thinking about nature. If you don't know how, look at mandalas for inspiration.
  • Place two or more flower pictures of the same type of flower in different colors next to each other and perhaps design a triptych out of them.
  • Perhaps you prefer to stick the leaves on a canvas on a stretcher frame or on a wooden board. Try yourself.
  • Finally, you can also slice the flower heads lengthwise with a scalpel, putting the cut of a flower next to the image of the flower.

Enjoy yourself!
