Repair the dishwasher basket with anti-rust paint

What you need:

Prepare the dishwasher basket

You should prepare the basket professionally so that you can then use anti-rust paint to make your dishwasher basket ready for use again. In addition to grinding work, you will certainly also have to carry out small readjustments.

1. Since you certainly don't put your dishwasher basket in the Kitchen If you want to work, you should look for a location with a good supply of fresh air where you can work in peace. Then take a tape measure and measure the distance between the individual wire rods of the dishwasher basket.
2. If the distances between the rods are different, you must readjust them with a pipe wrench. This work should be carried out very carefully so that the dishwasher basket looks good again after you have painted it with anti-rust paint.

3. After you have adjusted all the struts, clamp the dishwasher basket in a vise. The vise should have protective jaws so you don't damage the basket. If you do not have a vice, you can also work with screw clamps. Make sure, however, that you do not bend the freshly adjusted wires of the dishwasher basket again.

The anti-rust paint is applied

1. So if you have clamped the dishwasher basket correctly, you should definitely sand down the entire basket before painting it with anti-rust paint. Since the basket has many thin, round struts, you should do the grinding work by hand. Take fine sandpaper and try to remove all of the old paint from the dishwasher basket.

2. After you have cleaned off the sanding dust with a dry cloth, you can paint with the anti-rust paint that you bought in advance at your local hardware store. Do not spray the anti-rust paint too thickly to prevent the paint from running. It is better to wait until the first layer has dried properly and then spray on a second layer.
3. When the second layer is also dry, you can reinsert your dishwasher basket, freshly painted with anti-rust paint.
