How to make mirabelle liqueur yourself
- First prepare the mirabelle plums. Some varieties can be pitted easily, others not. If possible, core the fruit and cut it in half. If the stone sticks to the pulp, carefully squeeze the individual mirabelle plums so that the skin cracks open or pierce several times with a fork.
- Fill the mirabelle plums together with 250 g rock sugar (white or brown to taste) in a bulbous bottle.
- Add the whole cloves and the cinnamon stick.
- Now 1 l grain, Brandy or vodka pour over.
- Close the bottle tightly and let the mirabelle liqueur stand in a warm place for 3 weeks. Shake the bottle gently every now and then.
- Filter the mirabelle liqueur into a pretty liqueur carafe and let it rest for a while.
- Incidentally, the fruits are not lost. The mirabelle plums can (in small quantities) pudding or pancakes enjoy.
- Similar liqueurs can be made with other fruits.
