This is ensured by a precise title, which specifies a direction in terms of content and excludes others, for example: "The choice of topics in the German novel since 2000 in relation to social differences".
• Here the participants will already find some key points on which the discussion can be led, like on a leash that you can let loose from time to time, depending on your personal assessment.

• In order to do this, it is of course necessary that you have a very good understanding of the environment in which the discussion could possibly take place. Only with knowledge of the area is it possible for you to assess how far the group might possibly deviate from the actual topics.

The moderation of a discussion needs to be prepared

• In order to be able to moderate a discussion profitably for everyone, a training in moderation is useful. This includes, for example. also the knowledge of posture, facial expressions and gestures that correspond to your task.
