VIDEO: Make photos look older
This is how you can make photos look older
- Start the free image editing program GIMP. Should you get the software still on yours computer missing, you can GIMP download it for free.
- Click with the left mouse button on the first tab "File". It appear below the mouse other programs. Select "Open ..." with the mouse.
- Now choose the photo that you want to make look older. Then click on the "Open" button at the bottom right of the screen. Your selected photo should now appear in the program section.
- Now select the ninth tab "Filter" and click on it once with the left mouse button. The possible filters appear below the mouse.
- Move the mouse over the possible filters until the word "Decoration" is highlighted in blue. The possible options appear to the right of the mouse. Then move the mouse to the right to select. Here, select "Old Photo" by clicking on the word.
- A separate window will appear. Leave the incorrect values and also activate "Marbling". You can use it to make photos look even older. Confirm your values with "OK".
- After a short while, your selected photo will appear in a separate window as an old photo. You should then save this under a different name. The original photo is thus retained.
- If the photo you have just taken is not old enough, you can also add coffee stains. To do this, select the "Coffee stains" option for the "Decoration" filter as described under point 5. A window appears in which you can enter the number of coffee stains in a slide bar. First try a coffee stain and confirm with "OK". Now your old photo also has a coffee stain on it.

When choosing the photos you should make sure that the motif also fits. If you trim the most modern building in the world to look old, it doesn't look very believable. Historic buildings or landscapes are best.
