Make shuffle pants yourself
The currently very popular shuffle pants are originally raver phat pants or bell-bottoms with oversized prints and reflective images and ribbons. They have a tight fit in the hip and buttock area with a very wide blow on the leg, which is usually 80 to 85 cm in circumference. The reflective tapes and prints on the trousers create unique effects in the black light through the techno dance movements.
Make a pattern for the shuffle pants
To make a pattern for shuffle pants, you need a large sheet of paper. Use your own wide trousers and remove the cut, widening the flare so that the trousers have a circumference of at least 80 cm at the foot. When removing the cut, please note that the leg ends must be 40 cm wide. Start with the widening at the level of the middle of the thigh.
Cut the fabric of the shuffle pants
Double-lay the fabric for the shuffle pants and pin the pattern so that you can cut it out well. Add 1 cm for the seam, 2.5 cm for the foot end and 1.5 cm for the waistband. You have now cut the front side twice and the back side twice.
Applying the reflective tapes
- Cut the reflective tapes and place patterns on the pant legs. Pin these in place with pins and sew them on in a zigzag using thread of the same color.
- Alternatively, you can also use reflective tapes with Velcro and apply these individually after the shuffle pants have been completed.
Sew shuffle pants
- Place the front parts right sides together on the back parts. Then sew the inner and outer leg seams together with a zigzag stitch.
- Now sew the crotch of the pants. To do this, turn one pant leg to the right (right side outside) and insert it into the other pant leg. The inner leg seams meet exactly. The crotch is also sewn together with a zigzag stitch.
- The hem is also finished with a zigzag stitch and to do this, fold the hem 2.5 cm wide to the left and sew it on.
- Cut the waistband to the required size from the leftover material. Sew the ends right sides together and then iron the seam allowances to the side. The waistband is folded lengthwise inside out and cut the elastic to your size plus 2 cm seam allowance. Now sew the ends of the elastic together. Place the elastic between the waistband and sew the lower long edges of the waistband together in a zigzag stitch. The elastic is sewn into place. Pin the waistband right sides together on the trousers and also sew it on with a zigzag stitch.
