VIDEO: Instructions for making an Aurelio star
The Aurelio star is one of the most beautiful folded stars. It does require a lot of patience and the instructions are not that easy, but the folding result is impressive.
Handicraft instructions - this material is required
- You will need 30 sheets of square folding paper. Depending on the star size, choose the folding paper. For the first star, a size of at least 15cm x 15cm is recommended. You can buy the paper in the craft shop. Origami paper is also particularly suitable because it is more stable than conventional folding paper. Often there are already complete sets for tinkering with Aurelio star to buy. The advantage here is that handicraft instructions with pictures are usually included.
- You will also need a paper glue. Depending on your preference, choose either a glue stick or a liquid glue. Both have advantages and disadvantages. The liquid glue dries slower and is more difficult to work with properly. The glue stick sticks quickly and cleanly, but comes off the paper more quickly.
- If you want, you can also use a folding board for folding. These boards are available at the craft store and make it easy to fold paper neatly and accurately.
The Aurelio star - now it is folded
- Take the first sheet of folding paper.
- Fold it crosswise once and open it again.
- Now fold all corners of the square once towards the middle of the paper. You will get a smaller square.
- Turn the square over. The tip of the square is now at the bottom.
- Fold the lower right side of the square towards the center.
- Now fold the top left side to the middle as well. The shape of the folded object now corresponds to a trapezoid.
- Turn the trapeze over. It is now on top again. The lower right side is significantly shorter than the lower left side.
- Fold the lower right side towards the middle.
- Fold the top left side towards the middle.
- The first module of the Aurelio star is ready. Now repeat the process until you have 30 modules.

Handicraft instructions for assembling the Aurelio star
- Each 5 modules are connected to one phase of the Aurelio star. Unfold one of the corners of your module and put glue on it.
- Insert this corner into one of the slots on the second module. You get a slightly V-shaped object.
- Put the first five module parts together in this way. You will receive a 5-pointed star.
- Now take the next five module parts.
- Unfold one corner of the module again and coat it with glue.
- The module is pushed directly into the slot on a point of the 5-point star.
- Glue a module to each prong.
- This system continues until all 30 modules have been installed.
The Aurelio star is quite complicated the first time, but once you understand the system, folding and gluing is twice as fun.
