The right motif for the bookmark
If you want to make bookmarks from a photo yourself, the first question is about the right motif.
- Most cardboard bookmarks that you can buy in stores are about four to 15 centimeters long and four to five centimeters wide. It is therefore important to choose a motif that comes into its own on these dimensions.
- This can be an animal or a person, for example.
- Photos of landscapes, streets, tall buildings or plants are also good motifs for making a bookmark from a photo yourself.
- You can either take such a picture with your digital camera or look for it from your photo archive on your computer.

Use photos for crafting
- Then drag the picture (preferably in JPEG format) onto a portable storage medium such as an MP3 stick or simply remove the memory card from your camera.
- Now you can print out the selected photo. Most drug or photo stores usually do this within a few minutes. Common formats that work for the Handcraft Recommend a bookmark are 9 by 13 centimeters, 10 by 15 centimeters and 13 by 18 centimeters.
- You then bring the developed image into a suitable bookmark format. For this, cut out the motif in the appropriate dimensions with scissors.
- In addition, cut out a rectangle of the same size from colored cardboard or construction paper.
- You attach this with glue to the back of your photo.
- Let everything dry for about an hour or two so that the two materials are firmly bonded together. After that, your self-made bookmark is ready and you can use it right away.
