Making a tealight holder - instructions

1. Take the cardboard or corrugated cardboard and draw a star with the pencil. You can draw this freehand or using a template. The star should have a diameter of at least 18 cm. The bigger the star should be, the stronger the cardboard you are tinkering with should be.
2. Then use the compass to draw two circles of different sizes in the center of the star. The smaller circle should be 2 cm in diameter and the larger one should be 4.2 cm in diameter. Take the same starting point for both circles so that the circles are also at the same distance from each other.
3. Now cut out the star with the scissors or the cutter.
4. You can then cut out the inner smaller circle.
5. Now you have to make incisions from the outer edge towards the center of the star, approx. 3-4 mm apart. The simplest method, just like with cakes, is first to halve the circle, then to quarter it, then to eighth and so on. This creates evenly spaced incisions.

6. Now turn the star over and bend the incised ring downwards.
7. You can fit the tea light into the hole created in this way. The star tealight is ready.

Embellishment options for your star

• With a little paint, you can add some Christmas motifs such as bells, small ones, to the finished star Stars or paint candles.
• Another nice and easy option is to apply decorative litter items such as snowflakes, fir trees or angels with the help of superglue.
• You could also use floral wire or a thin cord to tie some fir green or mistletoe around the tea light.
• If you have a steady hand, you can use some superglue to paint shapes on the star and sprinkle glitter or sand over it before it dries. The excess material can then simply be poured off after drying.

You can make a star for your tea light yourself quickly and inexpensively. You need approx. 5 minutes for the star as such, then it depends on how much and how lavishly you want to decorate. In any case, it is a nice little gift for someone special.
