Keeping your hair healthy through proper care

Broken hair occur mainly with longer hair. But also through too many chemical treatments, weather conditions, hairdressing methods and wrong ones care.

  • First of all, you should pay attention to the right care products for your hair. The range of products is diverse. Choose a hair shampoo that is suitable for your hair type - e.g. B. for longer hair, for fine hair, colored or highlighted hair. If necessary, seek advice from a specialist in the drugstore or hairdresser.
  • Get your hair cut regularly. With short cuts you usually go approx. every 6 weeks for recutting. With long hair, trimming is often neglected. This is crucial for the split of the hair.
  • Avoid too many chemical treatments at short intervals. Even if you wear your hair short and especially if you have long to long hair. Too many color treatments dry out the hair and make it brittle. Color and highlights should be done 6-12 weeks apart.
  • Bleached hair requires special care in order not to break. By removing the natural pigments, the hair loses moisture and dries out faster. Therefore, in this case, you should add a lot of moisture to your hair in the form of a care pack, about 1-2 times a week. There are also various products that stay in the hair and provide long-lasting moisture in the form of oils or sprays. Here, too, it is advisable to seek advice.
  • Broken hair - what to do?

Frequent or incorrect styling, the wrong hair products or excessive ...

  • We do not recommend straightening your hair every day with a straightening iron. The irons expose the hair to a very high level of heat and cause hair breakage. If you still do not want to do without straightening, get heat protection for your hair and make sure that the quality of the straightening iron is good.
  • Give your hair a "break" every now and then and do without spray, gel, hairdryer and straightening iron. Hair has to breathe. If your everyday life allows, you can simply wear your hair in its natural state e.g. B. on the weekend.

When the lengths and tips are totally broken

If your hair is already totally broken, here are some things you can do:

  • Even if it will be difficult for you - if the hair is already very damaged, it will need to be cut a bit. Depending on how split the hair is, cutting the tips is enough to stop the split ends. Because this works its way upwards with broken hair.
  • There are also hairdressers who offer so-called split ends with the "hot scissors". Only the split ends are cut off with special scissors. However, this is only recommended if there are fewer split ends.
  • You should also use special care products for dry and split hair. However, always alternating with a normal shampoo to ensure a balance of the hairline.
  • Apply approx. An intensive treatment 3 times a week.
  • For now, refrain from further color treatments until your hair has recovered. We strongly advise against using perms.
  • Straightening irons should also be avoided with broken hair. Rather, use a blow dryer and style your hair straight with a large round brush.
  • Most hairdressers offer special repair programs. These are maintenance applications that are carried out on site.

Taking care of your hair appropriately, going to the barber regularly, and occasionally giving your hair a break from styling can help prevent your hair from becoming totally broken.
