Felt thin dreadlocks yourself. It's best to have friends felted dreads yourself. But how do you make regular, thin dreadlocks that look neat and tidy?

Would you like regular, thin dreadlocks? Invite a few friends over and give a lice comb to two of them. The session will last several hours, depending on the length of your hair. How do you prepare your hair so that the dreads are neatly separated from each other and not too thick?

Prepare regular thin dreadlocks

  1. You determine the thickness of your dreadlocks before the actual felting. First, the hair is divided into sections so that the dreads are regularly thick and all hair can find its place.
  2. To do this, divide the hair into small braids with a roughly square base. The more precisely you work, the more beautiful the dreads will be later. Secure the braids with the small hair ties.
  3. It is very troublesome to part all of your hair at the same time. You can go row by row from the forehead to the nape of the neck and always divide one or two rows, then felt and then divide the next one or two rows.
  4. You can get really thin dreadlocks if you make the squares as small as possible. However, if you make them too small, the hair will have a hard time matting and will create holes in the dreads where the hair will simply stay normal. A square should already measure 1 x 1 centimeter.
  5. Dreads with straight hair - this is how they work

Dreads look cool and show an unconventional attitude towards life. Especially young ...

How to felt the dreads

  • When you have divided the first set of hair, two friends start felting the strands from either side. To do this, remove the rubber and use the lice comb to comb vigorously against the direction of the hair. Start about 2 to 3 centimeters above the hairline and tease the strand until it becomes a firm, felt-like edge. Then work your way up the strand inch by inch until it is completely felted.
  • In this way, all the braids are felted one by one. Over the next few weeks you will have to re-felting yourself again and again, sometimes whole dreads fall apart again. Matting takes a little longer, especially with thin dreadlocks.
  • If you have healthy, strong hair, after a few days you can moisten it and treat it with silica. Knead the silica into each dread and let it sit for about two hours. But don't overdo it with silica, it can dry out the hair severely and cause it to break off.
  • In the course of the next few weeks, solid cores form in the dreadlocks and the dreads become stable. However, small strands will always come loose, which you can pull into the nearest dread with a crochet hook.
