Sew a tablecloth yourself

1. Typical tablecloths for beer tables are made of checked cotton fabric. You can buy this by the meter in stores.
2. The length and width of the tablecloth is determined by the dimensions of the beer table. If the table is 70 centimeters wide and 2.20 meters long and the tablecloth should hang down 25 centimeters on each side, the blanket must be 1.20 wide and 2.60 meters long. Add three centimeters of fabric to sew on each side. So you need 2.66 fabric in length and 1.26 meters in width. Have the length cut exactly for you in the shop. You cut the width yourself.
3. You can make cutting easier if you buy fabric in the appropriate width. Fabric is usually 1.40 meters wide when it is sold by the meter. But it is also available in a width of 1.20 meters. Think about how you can handle it. Depending on the situation, the tablecloth hangs down more or less.
4. When you have the correct measurements, flute the trimmed sides with the zigzag stitch of the sewing machine. sew Then all sides a centimeter all around (with a straight stitch). Then the sides are sewn one more time, except for the corners, which you sew as so-called letter corners. This will give you clean edges on the tablecloth.
