Because of its size and the fact that not every horse lover owns their own ranch, buying a horse is worth reconsidering. Be sure to calculate the cost of a horse per month and thus the average maintenance beforehand.

There is no general information about how much a horse costs per month. The average maintenance depends on the size of the horse, the age, the pitch (club stables, large riding stables, small private stables), a possible riding participation (results in a small plus in the costs), the amount of the own contribution for feeding, care, stable cleaning among other things. The cheapest variant of the costs for a horse is approx. 350,-€.

Boarding expenses for a horse

  1. The stable rent differs depending on the accommodation between approx. 150, - € (open stable without riding arena and paddock) and approx. 350, - € (riding stables, horse walker, riding arena, coupling service, lunging circle). Depending on your financial possibilities, you should think about a surgery cost insurance (also applies in the event of colic) or comprehensive health insurance. For this you would then have to pay for the horse in the amount of approx. 10 to 35 € / month (annual fee approx. 120 to 420 €). You should also take out accident insurance for yourself, which also includes a third-party rider.
